Cena undergoes successful operation
During the SummerSlam the chain gang leader John Cena suffered a herniated disk injury in his neck at the hands of Batista when the Animal delivered him the Batista Bombs in quick succession. Cena was operated by Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Dr. Joseph Maroon, a famous neurosurgeon and some other doctors.
The operation took around one and a half hour in which the microsurgical removal was done of a large disk fragment compression on the spinal cord which was the prime factor that resulted in the weakening of the nerve leading to the right arm. Doctors had also performed the same surgery on three other all-pro NFL players and were successful in it.
Dr. Chris Amann, who was present at the WWE arena when Cena injured himself, also reported that the operation went exactly the way it was planned and without any complications. There could have been several complications like infection and the incomplete removal of the disk material but in his case everything went absolutely fine. Cena reported the loss of pain in his arm and shoulder after the surgery.
Cena was glad to recover from the injury and wanted to get as strong as he can so that he can return to the ring as soon as possible.
