McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania Causes a major Traffic Spike
On June 6, 2008 in Pleasant Ridge, the fans of the WWE showed their devotion and loyalty towards the game and made a history with Vince McMahon’s Million Dollar Mania. The promotion, which was announced on WWE Monday Night RAW, blew away expectations as McMahon’s act of generosity resulted in extreme excitement which further resulted in an unprecedented amount of Web traffic.
There were more than 650,000 fans registering for the promotion, in the last four days alone, earning over a million sweepstakes entries. Josh Linkner, ePrize CEO said that “WWE fans are known for their unwavering devotion and enthusiasm. The tremendous passion of WWE fans is demonstrated in their overwhelming response to the sweepstakes as soon as Vince McMahon announced the chance to win $1 million of his own personal fortune. The power of the prize is again proven to move viewers to action.”
The server capacity of ePrize was doubled to accommodate the most passionate fans in the world, and that too within first two hours of the initial announcement of the promotion. This new technology is capable of handling millions of registrants per hour. Monty Ross, Vice President of Marketing for WWE said, “When considering a promotion of this magnitude we needed to ensure the right partner was in place”.
Monty added that “Since the WWE is the leader in live entertainment, the choice was obvious – ePrize, the leader in promotions”. The first winner of the contest will be called live during this Monday’s RAW from Oakland, California. Whatever you call him but with million dollars at stake the fans will be hoping that McMahon calls them the winner.
