MVP shares his thoughts on NBA’s MVP
Kobe Bryant, the NBA’s MVP, received the 2007-08 NBA Most Valuable Player award, after leading his team to a 57-25 record and to the 2008 NBA Finals in May. Playing for Los Angeles Lakers, he was also the NBA’s leading scorer during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons, which includes an outstanding 81-point performance in January 2006, the second most in NBA history.
With this first MVP award, the player has attracted the attention of many people from many fields including the WWE superstars like the SmackDown Superstar Montel Vontavious Porter known as MVP. MVP stated that “Bryant is only considered the best player in the sport of basketball, I’m multi-faceted. I’m the best in every sport –basketball, football, boxing – whatever. I’ve proven that. I’m better than everyone at everything. That’s why I’m the highest-paid athlete on SmackDown”.
In September 2006, there was a contract between MVP and the then General Manager Theodore Long from which Porter earned a reputation of being called the “most talented free agent in the game”. MVP quickly climbed the ranks of WWE, defeating the likes of Kane, Ric Flair and Batista, among others and that just due to his cocky attitude and in-ring prowess.
Porter had earlier won the United States Championship, becoming the longest reigning U.S. Champion in WWE. MVP said, “Bryant needed a bunch of writers to tell him he’s the NBA’s MVP. I am MVP, and I don’t need a bunch of geeks to tell me that. You see, he’s going to lose that distinction next year to another wannabe. I always and forever will be the most valuable player on SmackDown, and the highest-paid athlete in sports-entertainment history”.
