Tribute to Tim Russert
At the Friday night SmackDown, Jim Ross’s commentary partner Mick Foley paid tribute to the host of NBC’s Meet the Press, late Tim Russert in his own way. Foley knew that Tim was a great admirer of his hometown Buffalo professional athletic team and thus Foley decided to wear the Buffalo Bison baseball jersey as a tribute to Tim Russert.
Foley admired Tim so much that when he saw Tim and his family wearing the Buffalo Bisons’ jerseys in a news article, he decided immediately to wear his Buffalo Bisons’ jersey at the SmackDown as an honor to him. Foley is glad to have the chance to talk to Tim. Foley received the jersey from the Bison players after his special appearance for the semi professional baseball team.
Foley still remembers the day when he first met Tim at the sets of NBC’s Today Show and smiles when he thinks about it. They both were big fans of Bruce Springsteen. Foley found him a really interesting person when Tim told him that he along with his son follows his show regularly.
According to Foley, the business of journalism lost one of the gems on June 13th at the sets of Meet the Press show. Tim was 58 when he left all his supporters. His greatest ability was to ask tough questions without any hesitation what so ever.
